What is an Acupressure mat?

An accupressure mat is also known as the bed of nails as it is made using over 6000 spikes which are known to help stimulate your acupoints and create firm pressure on muscles. Inspired by the ancient healing methods of acupressure used in chinese traditional medicine, this mat is a self treatment which stimulates which then leads to enhancing blood circulation and deep relaxation. Whether you are in need of a massage to you neck, shoulders or back or simply need to have a deep and blissful sleep, you acupressure mat is a great companion for you!

How to use your Acupressure mat

Your Acupressure mat is portable and can be used anywhere in your own comfort.

You could either lay your mat on floor, on your yoga mat or on your bed prior to enjoying your unique deep relaxation.

With the use of over 6000 spikes located on the mat, it stimulates your acu points by creating firm pressure which then leads to stimulate blood circulation creating energy within your body for a deep relaxation.

If you are new to the mat, it is always advised to start with a light t-shirt on.

When lying down on your mat always be gentle on your skin.

Remember, you will start feeling a prickly sensation on your skin as the spikes firmly get in touch with your body. At start many people feel this painful sensation on the body due to the pressure created by spikes. We always recommend to start with a small duration of about 5 mins and gently get your body to love the sensation from the mat.

 

How to use on your Back

Simply place your mat on the floor, yoga mat or on a soft surface such as your bed. Make sure you gently lie on the mat so that your skin will start touching the mat gently to start the process. At the start you could lie on the mat with a light t-shirt and slowly get used to the mat. For best results let your skin touch the mat creating firm pressure on your muscles.

Make sure you distribute your weight evenly on the mat. Breath deeply and calmly and relax you whole body. It may feel uncomfortable at first due to the pressure created by spikes, but you will slowly get used to the energizing warmth which spreads around your body and feel deep relaxation. By having an aroma diffuser with calming essential oils can help you relax deeper. This can be a beautiful bedtime routine to help with back pains and tension and help with better sleep.

Once finished roll up slowly and store in a dry place.

Suggested duration : 5- 20 mins



How to use on your neck and shoulders

Your Prana acupressure mat is lightweight and easily foldable. Roll your mat and keep under your neck and shoulders to relieve any pain and tension from long use of computers, tired neck and shoulders or after a workout.

You could lie on the floor, use a yoga mat or use your sofa or bed to start using your acupressure mat.  

Breath deeply and calmly and enjoy the sensation around your neck and shoulders.It may feel uncomfortable at first due to the pressure created by spikes, but you will slowly get used to the energizing warmth which spreads around your body and feel deep relaxation.

Once finished roll up slowly and store in a dry place.

How to use on your feet

Yes your feet need a little massage once in a while too. It is said that feet reflexology or massage can help relieve stress, improve blood circulation and provide relaxation to your body. Lay your mat on a surface and gently stand on your mat. Start adding pressure with your weight slowly when you feel that your feet are getting used to the firm pressure by thousands of spikes on the mat. This is a heavenly massage to your tired feet and can be added to your night routine before bed. As with your body, you can start wearing socks on your feet and slowly move to bare feet.

It may feel uncomfortable at first due to the pressure created by spikes, but you will slowly get used to the energizing warmth which will be created around your feet.

What to know about using an acupressure mat

Everyone reacts differently to acupressure mats. At start almost everyone goes through discomfort and slight pain due to firm pressure created by thousand spikes located on the mat. Which is why we recommend starting with a light t shirt/ socks on and starting with a just a couple of minutes till your body finds that connection with your mat. Breathing deeply and calmly can help your body take in the deep relaxation and feel pain and tension leaving you.
